Icy Run

Today's Run:   2.25 mi, 19:10: 8:27/mi

I can't sugarcoat it - running today was stupid.  The track was dangerous.  Snow, ice, slush, and large puddles were scattered about the sidewalk.  Mounds of hard, icy snow greeted me at the end of each row, but after a 3 day layaway, I just had to do it.   Fortunately 75% of the path was clear, so I managed to get in a pretty solid run -dodging over and around the cold and icy obstacles in my way.

Due to a laundry mishap, I ran in shorts today, which after a few minutes felt rather nice.  It was 25 degrees, after all - the second warmest day of the year thus far, and I always find it amusing running past someone walking a dog in 4 layers and a heavy coat with shorts and a long-sleeve t-shirt.

Ultimately, the layoff didn't seem to effect anything.  In fact, taking a few days off here and there can be good for the muscles - I just can't let it happen too often.  I pushed myself an extra quarter mile today - with the exact same pace as the previous run.  That's certainly an improvement.

I will run at least 2.5 miles this weekend, and figure I'll reach 3 miles with a week.
